There are six (6) types of expansion VALVES:
1) Thermal or thermostatic expansion valve
2) Manual valve
3) capillary tube
4) automatic valve
5) electronic expansion valve
6) float valve
Function of expansion valve:
It controls the superheating (evaporator out put temperature). The expansion valve is positioned to decrease the refrigerant fluid pressure. As a result of the pressure drop, the fluid is cooled and then sprayed itno evaporator. An expansion valve is always connected to the evaporator.
